Business Sustainability: Win Recompetes by Reusing, Recycling, and Renewing
Speaker Bio: Kristin Dufrene, AF.APMP, has been an active member of APMP since 1995 and has presented at nine International Conferences and NCR's APMP Professional Day. She applies her 23 years of federal procurement experience as a member of APMP's Government-Industry Acquisition Task Force, and served as Chair of the Task Force for two years. Early in her career, she was involved in the requirements definition for a large communications system, and for the past 20 years has focused on marketing, capture, and proposals for products, technology solutions, and service procurements. As Vice President at CACI, Kristin currently manages a team of proposal managers focused on "Business Sustainment”. She is responsible for managing the entire business development lifecycle for CACI corporate recompete and hybrid efforts, from pipeline management, strategy development, and milestone planning through the assignment of proposal managers and proposal reviews.
Ashley Nichols will be co-presenting this session with Kristin.
Overview: One of the buzz words when we talk about “Green Initiatives” is Sustainability. Mediaenvironment.org defines sustainability as: using only what you need, think critically about changes you can make, and be conscious about how your choices will affect the future. How perfectly fitting to describe recompetes in these terms!
Recompetes need to be captured as aggressively as new business, but they have pitfalls that are often more difficult to overcome than a new competitor faces. Business sustainment has become more competitive in this era of shrinking budgets, low price/technically acceptable source selection, and a marked increase in protests. Using case studies, this presentation addresses the reuse of proposal material, but recycling it in a way to create a renewed excitement for current customers. We provide tips that capture/proposal professionals can use to make an impact, and explain how an early start, critical change, and conscious choices lead to proposal wins.
